Dior's Tarot-themed Cruise 2018 Collection

I'm in love with the new Dior's Cruise 2018 Collection that I've seen on Instagram. It's a tarot-themed collection created by Maria Grazia Chiuri.

Maria Grazia Chiuri was inspired by the work of Vicki Noble and Karen Vogel's tarot deck from 1970. You can read more about Noble and Vogel's work at their Motherpeace Tarot page here.

Chiuri used four tarot cards as an inspiration for the Collection: Death, Swords, The Judgement and Wheel of Fortune.

For Cruise 2018, #MariaGraziaChiuri channeled and reinterpreted fortune-telling and tarot. Enthusiastically embracing the Motherpeace tarot by Vicki Noble and Karen Vogel, her collection features the colorful ‘Swords’ card, in a nod to Monsieur Dior’s lucky star and one of the House’s key codes: the bee.⠀ #DiorCruise⠀ © @AkatreStudio⠀⠀

In creating Motherpeace we were able to use our research into many diverse cultures from every continent. We looked back at thirty thousand years of art and five million years of human evolution. Our investigations led us to study many great Goddess and tribal cultures from Africa, the Americas, Asia, Australia and Europe. All this knowledge pours through the Motherpeace images, whether or not a person ever reads any of our books or studies the tarot. (motherpeace.com)

In the Motherpeace deck by Vicki Noble and Karen Vogel, the Wheel of Fortune card, a classic in tarot, is composed of an astrological sideral, showing all the twelve houses of the zodiac, with the focus of concentration illustrated by the ascendant sign. This mystical tarot-themed collection by Dior also reminds me of Pantone's choice of Color of The Year 2018, Ultra Violet.
